Sapphire Angel is an original piece that I composed last year, made for piano, cello and flute. It was chosen amongst other projects in my degree to be played at Casa de Vacas in Retiro, Madrid.
This was my first composition that was played by musicians in a formal context; it was also the first instrumental project I had ever worked on, and so I learned how the individual instruments worked, to then understand how they could work together.
While writing the piece, they gave us a few guidelines that included things we had to add in our composition, for example interludes, an A B and C section, a key change, and so on… Apart from this we had full creative freedom.
The composition itself was inspired by my grandparents. They have always been my biggest supporter and they were the ones that introduced me to music.
